The NAPA “Trick Truck” Award
21st West Coast Nationals
Pleasanton, California

You only get one chance to make a first impression, and Mike Crimaldi and his 1953 Ford F-100 took full advantage of the vehicle’s first show capturing the NAPA Trick Truck Award this weekend in Pleasanton, Calif.

Crimaldi, from St. Charles, Ill., is used to making a good impression with the F-100 though as he proposed to his wife Lisa in it 25 years ago.

Crimaldi’s truck oozes cool featuring black on NAPA blue paint with yellow and silver pinstripes, as well as a unique carbon fiber inlay in the bed. But it doesn’t stop there as a quick look under the hood shows a 509 Merlin engine with a Tremec 5-speed transmission.

It took Crimaldi and the Roadster Shop two years to complete the project as every panel of the truck was replaced. In addition to the NAPA Trick Truck Award, the team’s hard work was rewarded with a feature in Classic Trucks Magazine.

This trip to Pleasanton netted Crimaldi a $100 NAPA gift certificate for tools from the on-site NAPA Tool & Equipment tent. In addition to the NAPA gift certificate, Crimaldi also received:

  • Goodguys Rod & Custom Association Award
  • A die-cast model of the NAPA Overhaulin’ Delivery Truck
  • A NAPA hat, t-shirt and grease towel
