The NAPA Trick Truck Award
10th Southwest Nationals
Scottsdale, Ariz.

Like most of us, Gary Coe has great childhood memories of time spent with family and friends. Many of Coe’s memories involve his father’s 1957 Ford F-100, so to pay homage to that truck and his father, Coe restored a red 1957 F-100 for himself. However, at the 10th Southwest Nationals in Scottsdale, Ariz., it was us paying homage to Coe in the form of a NAPA Trick Truck award.

Coe’s F-100 is powered by a 4.6L dual overhead cam engine, Lentech AOD transmission and Kenne Bell supercharger. The truck, in pristine condition, also features Budnik wheels, handcrafted sheet metal from front to back, a 1996 Mustang Cobra SVT instrument panel and a custom leather interior by Paul Reichlin.

The rebuild lasted 3 ½ years as Coe and Steve’s Auto Restoration took it from a non-driveable state to its current level – appraised at $250,000.

The F-100 has been featured in Classic Trucks, Custom Classic Trucks, Truckin’ and Mustangs & Fords. Additionally, it has won the 2006 Goodguys Late Model Truck of the Year, Americruise Truck of the Year, F-100 Supernationals Truck of the Year and the Portland Roadster Show King of Kustom award.

The trip to Scottsdale netted Coe a $100 NAPA gift certificate for tools from the on-site NAPA Tool & Equipment tent. In addition to the NAPA gift certificate, Coe also received:

  • Goodguys Rod & Custom Association Award
  • A die-cast model of the NAPA Overhaulin’ Delivery Truck
  • A NAPA hat, t-shirt and grease towel
